5The Bowflex Sport may have saved my lifeApr 21, 2010
As an insulin-taking diabetic who just had his gall bladder removed, and had triple bypass surgery a few years ago, I'm no competition for Schwartzenegger. I bought the Bowflex at a critical time in my life. Because of insulin use, my weight kept rising. When it got close to 300 lbs., and I couldn't put on my socks or tie my shoes, much less walk any distance at all, it became clear that the weight was on the verge of killing me.
I got the Bowflex because I knew its characteristics: as little resistance as I needed, or as much; very smooth action, easy on joints and muscles; easy to shift from exercise to exercise;and easy to cheat on rod changes by just using one resistance level for several exercises, and adjusting the reps accordingly.
Results started showing up immediately. I got stronger, lost weight -- in fact fifty pounds so far, and was able to stop using insulin. When my blood sugar gets too high, ten vigorous minutes on the Bowflex brings it back down. I feel better than I have for about three or four years.
Sure, the leg exercises aren't that great. But you can't expect to get a whole gym full of equipment for this great price. I'm grateful to my wife: she is happy that I never fold the Bowflex, so it's always out. Great quality construction!

5Works great, user friendlyApr 11, 2010
The title pretty well sums it up for me. It works well and is easy to use for the most part. I purchased this newer-used from a private individual locally. It is a little larger than I expected. I put it in a 12ft sq room with 8' ceilings and it pretty well takes up most of the room with just a little left on the perimeter and goes nearly to the ceiling. I wish it was a little more compact, but that is my only complaint and considering what I paid for it, was a fabulous deal. I'm not sure I would be as happy had I paid newer prices for it.

It seems every bit as good as regular free weights, for the casual user anyway. It also has the strong advantage of not really needing a spotter unlike traditional weights since there really isn't anything to fall on you. Technically no one will ever tell you to work out alone, but I feel pretty safe on this and I"m not afraid of dropping anything that could harm or pin me.

I do question the actual calibration and think most people with prior weight lifting experience will find the numbers seem a tad inflated, but regardless, it gets the job done. I feel like I've worked out every bit as I would have with free weights, provided I go by how it feels to my muscles, not just the numbers on the rods. It is a very good product and would definitely recommend it to anyone that is really serious about fitness. If you have never lifted weights, don't know how or if you would like it, go to a gym first and work with someone a few times to decide and get some practice/idea of what the exercises are supposed to do before you go to the expense. I'm not sure I'd find it as easy without having a little prior experience with a traditional set first.

This product was delivered in a timely fashion. It was brand new like the description said. I am very happy with this purchase. I can't wait to buy something else pretty soon from amazon.

5great valueMar 11, 2010
This thing is awesome! I would never go to a gym and free weights are kind of a pain. I go into the room and work out like a pro. My son likes it too. I got a good workout just carrying all the parts upstairs and putting it together. I did each of the 60 exercises to get the right amount of tension for each. Now I work the groups until I feel the burn. Then I do the treadmill for more cardio. What a sense of accomplishment.

5Great Equipment at Low CostFeb 24, 2010
It took my boyfriend and I about 2.5 hours to put the whole thing together (with 2 breaks). The step by step instructions made it really easy to put together. We've worked out several times and it's a nice piece of equipment. It's really easy to change the cables to do different work outs.
