Simplistic but accurateJul 04, 2010 This heart rate monitor doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some more expensive models do, but it is perfect for exercisers like myself who just want a simple and accurate readout. It was well-worth the price, and I have been using it for over a year without replacing the battery. It also has the added benefit of not requiring a chest strap like most others.
Didn't work for meApr 30, 2010 I purchased this in 2009 - never got the watch to work properly: either getting no HR reading at all, or a reading of something like 120 followed a few minutes later by a reading of 70. And yes, I carefully read the instructions and tried tightening the strap as much as possible - still did not work.
Accurate enoughMar 05, 2010 I bought this watch after I had a triple bypass, so I could keep my heart rate within limits while on the road to recovery. I have checked it against the pulse-oximiter at my doc's office and by manually counting my pulse. It's always within a few beats which is good enough for me. I got it because it's cheap ($30) and doesn't have a chest strap like a lot of the other ones do.
not reliableDec 18, 2009 Because of recent open heart surgery, I was looking for a unit without a chest strap, the unit I purchased is great as a watch, but it take at least ten times of activation to get your heart rate. By the time it does record your heart rate, it has gone down by 10 or 20bpm. I would not purchase again, waste of money.

Broke quickly, inconvenient to use.Nov 13, 2009 I bought this model on Ebay and am glad I paid much less than $33.
1. I did not realize how inconvenient it would be to hit the button to get my heart rate. The response takes longer than I wanted to wait. Neither of these features are a fault, they are clearly described in description. I only mention it because I realized the chest-strap style is worth more than the inconvenience of putting on the strap.
2. It's cheap. The plastic on the face cracked and the readout on the face went blank. I think I only got in 10 uses. It doesn't even work as a watch anymore.
Save your money.
