Good monitor but odd fitMar 13, 2010 Heart monitor works very well. Great tool for increasing your intensity. However, watch is very small/thin and the can be hard to read. Not thrilled with fit of chest strap.

Good starter watchMar 05, 2010 I've had this heart rate monitor for 6-7 months now. I choose this monitor for the features and the low price. It's a very good watch and the back light feature is excellent. I wear this watch for weight lifting and cardio at a gym, and it's nice to know how many calories I'm burning and when to slow down if my heart rate goes too high. It's got some pretty basic functions, 30 minute timer, alarm, back light, a way to count your laps and a clock that can be set to two different times, very helpful if you travel. Nice clean design and it can take a beating too, I took it in the water with me in India.
I did have to change the battery on the transmitter very recently, and all I had to do was take a nickel and turn the back off and replace it with a battery I bought at the drug store. This is huge plus considering that Polar forces you to mail in the unit to replace the battery at your expense. I'm a bit disappointed that there's really no way of knowing you are low on battery. I just thought my unit was breaking, because it was stuck at 31 beats for the entire hour I was exercising. The next day I wore it again and it said it didn't register a heart rate, so I changed the battery and it was working perfectly again. Also wish the watch had an interval timer, so I don't have to go buy another gadget.

Not quite what I wanted.Mar 01, 2010 I use the middle notch on the band so fit is no problem. I am male, 10 pounds overweight, 5' 8".
I have atrial fibrillation and bought the watch to monitor my atrial pulse full time. Units with a chest sensor measure the electrical impulse across the heart rather than the rate at which the ventricles contract which is what is felt on the wrist. If I use this full time the battery in the watch will last about 3 months
The information from Amazon states:
"All Timex heart rate monitor sensors have batteries that can be replaced by consumers without requiring them to be returned to the manufacturer." This is true of many of the watch-sensor belt combinations. The Zone Trainer box states "owner replaceable batteries in one spot and on the side mentions a replaceable battery only for the sensor. The instruction manual states that the watch takes a CR2032 lithium battery, while the back plate on the watch calls for a CR2016.
One useful feature is the ability to keep two time zones on the watch. I use standard time and daylight savings time and can avoid having to search for the instructions twice a year.
Several times the watch has switched into stopwatch mode. One press of the mode switch returns to the time mode. I can duplicate this behavior by pressing the mode button, then the set/reset button and then the mode button.

Timex Heart Rate MonitorFeb 20, 2010 This heart rate monitor is great. Especially for the price. The watch itself is not big and bulky, but the display is easy to read even during a workout. The chest strap is comfortable and you hardly notice you are wearing during a training session. The information that this unit provides is perfect. Constant heart rate, timer, clock, then when you are finished, there is a nice review. Giving you total time, total time in and out of selected heart rate zones, total calories burned and more. Great buy for a great price.

Good product but short range for HRMFeb 10, 2010 I purchased this product mainly for heart rate monitoring while cycling. The product works great as long as the chest strap and the watch are in close proximity to each other. During cycling, while sitting upright and arms extended, the wrist watch (mounted on the wrist) can be about 2 feet away from the chest strap. Unfortunately, at this distance, the sensor in my watch sometimes fails to pick up heart rate signals from the chest strap. I replaced the battery in the chest strap but saw no improvement. I now wear the watch closer to my elbow during cycling workouts. Ever since I started doing that, the product hasn't missed a beat. Just make sure the watch and chest strap are close to each other.
