Southern Chicks Cafe and Daiquiris opened its second location on 7112 Florida Blvd., in Baton Rouge. According to general manager DeSean Perkins, the first location started in New Roads about nine years ago, and this is the first franchise location.
The store soft opened April 29, but the grand opening is slated for May 1.
This location was franchised to Brandon Bakare and Jeremy Washington. In addition to chicken and daiquiris, the menu features sandwiches, wraps, burgers and quesadillas.Â

For the grand opening, Southern Chicks is running two specials: a combo with two tenders, fries, a bread roll and daiquiri or a leg, wing, thigh, fries and daiquiri combo for $10 each. The special will run until May 17.Â
Perkins recommends that people get the tenders and the Caesar salad. The tenders are pretty big, she said, so they're filling, and they make their Caesar dressing in-house. As for daiquiris, her favorites are Sunset on the River — made with strawberry, pina colada, margarita and other fruit flavors — and Hippy Chick, made with strawberry, margarita and watermelon vodka.
