Two former LSU golfers will tee it up Thursday in the 125th U.S. Open, while a third hopes to make the field as an alternate.

Skip Bertman’s LSU Tigers won the College World Series in 1996 and 1997, but the pain of having just seen his team eliminated from the 1998 CWS was still just as deep.

The LSU Tigers are leaving for Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday, and Tigers fans are invited to Alex Box Stadium to see them off on their trip to the College World Series.

Skip Bertman has been through a lot since he retired from coaching. The loss of his beloved wife of 63 years, Sandy Bertman, in March. The loss of his home to a fire about 20 years ago.
