Baton Rouge residents can expect chances of rain and flash flooding until the weekend, which is turning into an overall gloomy week.

Wednesday night is poised to be relatively dry compared to the rest of the week for the Baton Rouge area as storms move toward the Gulf Coast.

The chance of rain drops to 60% Wednesday night but is predicted to jump back up to 80% on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

On-and-off showers are expected for the region during the day on Thursday, said NWS Meteorologist Megan Williams.

Williams said that residents should be prepared for winds up to 30-50 mph and chances of flash flooding.

Williams said to expect similar circumstances Friday, which will even have a "better chance for seeing rain." These conditions will carry on through the weekend.

Around 1 to 3 inches of additional rain is predicted for the rest of the week, she said.

Louisiana State Police has issued a weather-related travel advisory ending Thursday. The heavy rain can also cause excessive runoff, resulting in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, according to NWS.
