Planning a visit to the Shaw Center for the Arts? Well, get ready to be mesmerized by the kaleidoscope of color in Glasgow Middle School's "Umbrella of Color" in the Paula G. Manship Foyer Gallery.

This exhibit by Glasgow's talented visual art students, under the direction of teacher and artist Geeta Dave, celebrates traditional folk art of Gujarat, India.

Each year, the Gujarat's annual Tarnetar Fair brings together a unique combination of folk art, culture and tradition, making it a significant event in Gujarat's culture. One of the main attractions of this festival is its beautifully decorated umbrellas.

The umbrellas display such Indian folk art as peacocks, elephants, patterns and designs. The umbrellas in Glasgow Middle's "Umbrella of Color" are representative of the ones featured in Tarnetar Fair.

The show runs through March 31. The Manship Foyer Gallery is on the direct left of the Shaw Center for the Arts' entrance at 100 Lafayette St. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
