Baton Rouge came through Tuesday night's storms relatively unscathed, with a combined total of 279 Entergy and Demco customers reported without power as of 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Roads remain open and no emergency closures have been reported, according to the city-parish.Â
A flood watch for Baton Rouge remains in place until 7Â p.m. Wednesday, with a 100% chance of showers and thunderstorms predicted throughout the day, the National Weather Service said.
New rainfall amounts of between 1 and 2 inches are possible during the day, the weather service predicted, but "higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms," the agency said in its Wednesday morning forecast.Â
Multiple rounds of heavy rain are expected across much of the Baton Rouge area through Thursday afternoon, the NWS forecasters said.Â
Much of the area near and north of Interstate 10 has already received more than three inches of rain during the storms that came through Baton Rouge Tuesday night.
Additional totals of 1 to 3 inches are likely, with higher amounts possible on Wednesday, the NWS said
"Flooding caused by excessive rain continues to be possible," NWS said.Â
The chance of rain drops to 60% Wednesday night, but is predicted to jump back up to 80% on Thursday, the weather agency said.Â
State Police issued a weather related travel advisory through Thursday.
"Be weather-ready and stay safe, Louisiana," State Police said on social media.Â
